Pinewood Furniture Hosting Wood Carving Competition

Remember that big oak tree in front of Town Hall that was knocked down during the October snowstorm of 2011?

Well, the Manchester Arts Commission came up with a novel idea: have local artists use the wood to design sculptors and carvings, and then hold a contest and let the public decide which is the best.

Those sculptures are currently on display at Pinewood Furniture at 1115 Main St.

Downtown Manager Tana Parseliti said the voting is open to all, but ends on Thursday, June 6, 2013.

The winner will be announced on Heritage Day, Saturday, June 8, 2013, during the opening ceremonies at Cheney Hall at 10:30 a.m.

The winning entry will become property of the Town of Manchester.
