Manchester Dog Park Breaks Ground

MDOG broke ground on its planned dog park at Mt Nebo recreation area on Spring Street Monday.

The Manchester Dog Owners Group broke ground on  Monday.

Alysia Duke, President, and Shirley Gronholm, Member at Large and one of the Manchester citizens that originally spearheaded the campaign for a dog park in Manchester, were present for a small, uncerimonious, photo opportunity with park contractors Merritt Knight and his sons Jeff and James Merritt of Knight Construction.

Phase One of the dog park, a 0.4-acre fenced in area that would be for “small dogs” when the park was fully completed, but would serve as the temporary park for all dogs until Phase Two, a 0.9-acre fenced in area for “Large Dogs,” could be completed, is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Phase Two is expected to be completed by 2014.

The park will be located at the Mt. Nebo recreation area on Spring Street.

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly referred to the owner of Knight Construction as Merritt James.
