UConn Wizards Visit Illing Middle School

The UConn Wizards came to Illing Middle School recently to teach 8th grade students how much fun science can be. This year they have teamed up with the Dreyfus Foundation to present SILLY SCIENCE! The lesson is focused around polymers and monomers. The Wizards teach the students some of the wonderful things polymers and monomers can do. This includes having hands on demonstrations with Silly Putty. At the end of the lesson the students compete to see which team can create "gak" and have it most resemble real Silly Putty. This is a wonderful activity that really stimulates students and gets them interested in other forms of science they might not have otherwise considered.
