Founded in 1968 by the merger of two weekly newspapers in the area, the Journal Inquirer is a local newspaper thatMore publishes Mondays through Fridays in the afternoon and on Saturday mornings. The paper is based in Manchester, but its circulation and service area extends to 17 towns east of the Connecticut River, including the communities of East Hartford, Enfield, South Windsor and Vernon. The Journal Inquirer became a daily newspaper as a result of the merger of the Rockville Journal and the Inquirer of East and South Windsor in 1968, and prides itself on the fact that it is the only newspaper in Connecticut founded in the last century to still be publishing today, although the Rockville Journal dates back over 100 years. The paper moved from Rockville, a section of Vernon, to its present Manchester location in 1974.

M&J Wines & Liquors was taken over  by Bill Nostin from South Windsor. Located in the Manchester ParkadeMore next to Shady Glen, M&J Liquors features imported beers and microbrews. M&J Liquors will make deliveries to Manchester and neighboring towns on orders over $25. Though there are no tastings,  M&J Wines & Liquors has a wide selection of fine wines and imported and domestic beers.

The Budweiser Beer Distributor in Manchester is the second largest beer wholesaler in Connecticut and one of fourMore Budweiser distributors in the state. It supplies about 1,000 bars, restaurants and other facilities around the state and move about 4 million cases of beer each year. Owned by the Hollanger family since 1955, it is also known around Manchester for its family-business style and continued  involvement in greater Hartford's community life. Hartford Budweiser Beer Distributor is located at 131 Chapel Rd. near the Manchester/South Windsor town line.
