With the goal in sight, the Rotary Club of Manchester held its final fundraiser to establish a memorial for the victims of last August's Friday evening at the Adams Mill Restaurant in Manchester.
The rotary on the grounds of Hartford Distributors Chapel Road business, where disgruntled employee Omar Thornton gunned down eight of his co-workers before turning the gun on himself last August, and stood about $5,000 short of that goal Friday evening.
Radio station The Rock 106.9 WCCC also assisted in Friday's fundraiser.

The Rotary club plans to unveil the memorial in an Aug. 3 early morning ceremony at Hartford Distributors, commemorating the one year anniversary of the tragedy.
