Slice of Everyday Life

The play Steel Magnolias is nothing like the movie.  Unfortunately many people confuse plays with a popular version that comes to your local movie house, and in this case, Steel Mags, as its lovingly called, on stage is so much better than the movie. 

Sure, the movie had great actors and lots of emotion, but there's nothing like live theater, and certainly at LTM, we're proud of the quality of our actors and the productions that we offer to you.

With Steel Mags, it is the 'slice of life' that also attracts theater-goers.  The everyday conversations, secrets, gossip and deeply moving experiences of the ladies who meet at Truvey's beauty parlor is something we all share.

It may be at a beauty parlor or a bar or a church social, or just in our neighborhood, but however we connect with our closest friends - we can relate to this play.

Now, we may not experience the pain of losing a child as M'Lynn does in this play, and I apologize for breaking the news to those of you who have never heard of Steel Magnolias, but we do understand the pain and emotion of family/friend tragedy.

That's why we relate. It touches our hearts, it reminds us of people we love, and we can also relish in watching non-equity actors give the performances of their lifetime.  And, to see it played out night after night on the Cheney Hall stage by the amazing actors of Little Theatre of Manchester, under the direction of Joe Keach-Longo, is a priceless slice of everyday life that we bring to you.

The tickets are inexpensive, the parking is free, and the historic ambiance is wonderful.
