VIDEO: Illing's First Day a Success (with Uniforms)

The first day of school was also the first time students wore uniforms.

Arthur H. Illing Principal Troy Monroe welcomed students back for a new school year Wednesday, Aug. 31. The main difference this time is it also marks the first time that students at the middle school were required to come to school in a – and, by pretty much all accounts, the change over to uniforms seemed to be a hit with parents, teachers and students alike on the first day.

Hopefully this will stop some of the bullying that goes on. But if schools in Manchester had set down rules on proper dress no hanging pants, low cut tops, etc. along with a proper code of conduct and stictly enforced those rules there would not have to be a uniform policy. There is NO excuse in Manchester to be having some of the problems we have been having in our schools. Lets hope this will help along with reinforcing proper behavior, code of conduct and dress code.

Well put Edie. Hopefully there will be more positive events this year with a new Superintendant and High School Principal being hired.
