Thames Sworn in As Newest Member of Board of Education

Darryl Thames fills the vacancy on the Manchester Board of Education left by Sarah Walton's resignation.

Darryl Thames was formally appointed and sworn in as a member of the Manchester Board of Education during the school board's meeting Monday, Aug. 26, 2013.

Thames, who works for the City of Hartford and also has past experience working in education as a grant writer for both the Hartford and Danbury public school systems, was nominated to fill the seat vacated by Sarah Walton earlier this month by the Manchester Democratic Town Committee. Walton resigned earlier this month to accept a position within the Manchester Public Schools system.

Monday, the school board formally voted to approve Thames' for the seat, and he was then officially sworn into the role by Town Clerk Joseph Camposeo.
In other news Monday, the school board approved a new policy for the "Acceptable Use of Technology" and also received a report on the opening of the new school year from Interim Superintendent Richard Kisiel.
