School Efficiency Study Set for Summer

The study will focus on "efficiency and effectiveness" improvements to non-instructional operations, including finance, human resources and the operation and management of the district itself.

School administrators announced Tuesday that a planned study to analyze the efficiency of the school system’s 15 public schools will begin in June and is expected to be completed by September.

The study, which will be conducted by Evergreen Solutions LLC., will focus on “efficiency and effectiveness” improvements to non-instructional operations, including finance, human resources and the operation and management of the district. have long hoped the study will help point a way to reduce costs within the district as it battles with several successive lean budgetary years.

The study will include on-site visits, surveys and focus groups, and analysis of operational data provided by the school system. Consultants from Evergreen Solutions will be in district from June 13 through July 25, and plan to present their findings and recommendations to improve operations to school administrators in September.

“I am excited about this study and its potential to highlight our exemplary programs as well as make recommendations for improvements,” Superintendent Kathleen Ouellette said in a release announcing the study. “This study is a necessary step as we move Manchester public schools forward.”
