MCC's Evening of Fine Wines Raises $160,000

The money will go toward scholarships and programs at Manchester Community College

The 19th , hosted by the members of the Manchester Community College Foundation, Inc., was held on Friday, April 1 and attended by 700 people. The gala evening featured wine tasting as well as silent and live auctions to raise funds for scholarships and program enhancements. The event featured wines from Connecticut and around the globe with more than 25 tasting tables. Elegant hors d’oeuvres and Viennese-style desserts, prepared by MCC Culinary Arts students, were served throughout the evening.

Honorary chair Robert M. Annon, Jr., Regional President Hartford/Springfield Webster Bank said, “This event is MCC’s premier fundraiser and the proceeds will provide financial assistance for hundreds of deserving students across the region.”  Former honorary event chairs in attendance were Tim Devanney, Highland Park Market; Richard Meduski, SBM Charitable Foundation; Peter Karl, ECHN; Douglas Anderson, SBM Charitable Foundation and Bill McGurk, Rockville Bank.

Raising more than ever this year at $160,000, An Evening of Fine Wines has raised $1.4 million over its 19-year history to benefit scholarships and programs at Manchester Community College. Patrons of the event enjoyed several new features including Hotel California Tequia tasting station, Brioni’s premium coffee, a Felming’s Prime Steakhouse cooking demonstration by Chef Christain Schunmann. Ryan Hanrahan from NBC Connecticut guest emceed the auction segment where the highest selling items were an original work of art commissioned from Hans Weiss for $5,000 and a Flemings Steak House dinner for 10 people in your home, which sold for $2,400.
