MCC President Named to National Higher Education Advisory Council

The following is a press release from Manchester Community College. 

Dr. Gena Glickman, president of Manchester Community College, has been named to the Community College Advisory Panel (CCAP), a national group comprised of  college presidents and chancellors and dedicated to promoting national recognition of community colleges and access to higher education. 

“It is an honor to be appointed to the Community College Advisory Panel, to work collaboratively on a national scale with a group of leaders who are fully engaged in issues facing community colleges and our students. Community colleges are clearly a critical segment of higher education that provides a pathway for higher education, in some cases, the only pathway available to a potential student. It is therefore incumbent for us to stay ahead of the curve on topics facing our students and communities that are critical to the advancement of our local and national interests.” stated Glickman. 

CCAP was created through the outreach and advocacy efforts of the College Board, a member-governed, not-for-profit organization addressing issues facing educators. More than 6,000 institutions comprise the College Board membership, which includes K-12 schools and two- and four-year postsecondary institutions.

The group's mission is to increase access to and success in higher education for all students, especially those from underserved groups. Members of the panel, which meets two times a year, are appointed to three-year terms. In addition to advocacy, the College Board created and administers the SAT college entrance exam, Advanced Placement tests, the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), college placement tests, and other similar programs.
