Despite the sun and beautiful weather Sunday, snow removal throughout the region remained a challenge with more then 2 feet, and in some cases 3 feet, of snow blanketing the area.
To add to the challenge, a mix of freezing rain and sleet are expected to fall in Manchester just in time for the morning commute on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Because of the snow removal efforts, and the predicted freezing rain, school officials from throughout the town and region have canceled classes for Monday, Feb. 11.
Manchester Community College posted this announcement on its website Sunday afternoon:
"Manchester Community College and MCC on Main will be closed Monday February 11 due to conditions created by the recent blizzard. All offices are closed and all classes and events are cancelled."
The Manchester Public Schools and East Catholic High School are also closed Monday.
Howell Cheney Technical High School will be closed on Monday and is scheduled to be closed on Tuesday, per its school calendar.
According to the National Weather Service, a wintery mix of snow and freezing rain is expected in the area overnight and could last throughout the day on Monday. A winter weather advisory has been issued.
