Lt. Governor Stops by Highland Park Elementary School for 'School Lunch Superhero Day!'

Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman swung by Highland Park Elementary School in town Friday afternoon to honor a band of unsung heroes - the school's lunch service staff.

Deemed "School Lunch Superhero Day," Wyman was on hand to greet the school's cafeteria staff, as well as stress the importance of a proper nutrition and a balanced diet to the school's children.

School nutrition professionals serve an estimated 400,000 meals a day to Connecticut school children, according to the School Nutrition Association of Connecticut.

Wyman bestowed a proclamation on behalf of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Highland Park's three cafeteria workers, and also greeted many of the children and school staff.

"Believe it or not, we had lunch ladies even when I was in school," Wyman said.
