Grand Opening of MCC on Main a 'Great Success'

Manchester Community College's Arts and Education Center's grand opening last week was attended by more than 150 people, while $12,000 was raised before the end of the event.

Manchester Community College’s Arts and Education Center, MCC on Main, held its grand opening fundraiser on Thursday, September 13. The event was attended by 150 people and $12,000 was raised before the end of the event.

The celebration included a pre-opening wine and champagne reception at the historic Charles Cheney Mansion followed by dessert reception, art show and sale by current MCC Fine Arts students and ribbon cutting ceremony.

The event was made possible by Rockville Bank and Anthony and Paula Viscogliosi. Donations from FreshPoint, HPC Foodservice, Ellen Dougan, Forest Package Store, Manchester Wine and Liquors, Dennis Murphy and John Stafstrom, and Spendless Discount Liquor supported the evening. Special thanks to the MCC Culinary Arts, Music and Visual Fine Arts students.

MCC on Main is an art gallery (including a video gallery), entrepreneurship center, café and seminar and conference room space for hosting classes and event-related programming. The focal point of the MCC on Main initiative is the art gallery that will feature national artists, as well as local and emerging artists. A variety of programs and services that bring arts, education and the community together will be offered.

Annual memberships to MCC on Main are available for $40 for an individual membership and $60 for a family/household membership. Membership includes 10% discount on seminars and classes, admission to concerts and visiting artist series, subscription to email alerts and calendar of events, and special preview events.
