African Music Programs for Kids

The Lutz Museum is offering the following programs:

West African Music for Ages 3-5:

"Dancing, drumming, and singing are always done together in traditional West African music. Come explore this rich musical tradition as we sing, dance, and drum the day away. We will learn about West African culture by examining artifacts, playing instruments, and seeing traditional artwork."

  • a. Thursday, August 11 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
  • b. Thursday, August 11 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Members $13, Non-members $15

Sounds of Africa for Ages 6-10:

"Traditional West African music is very important in daily life, especially in rural areas. In this class, we will learn about West African musical traditions, including singing, dancing, and drumming. We will play traditional West African instruments and see traditional artwork and artifacts."

Thursday, August 11 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
