Crockett, Hagenow Absent From Wednesday's BOE Meeting

Michael Crockett and Deborah Hagenow were again no-shows for the Wednesday, May 29, 2013 meeting of the Board of Education.

A night after a special meeting of the Board of Education was conveyed to discuss their conduct, Michael Crockett and Deborah Hagenow were again absent from Wednesday's regularly scheduled meeting of the school board.

Tuesday's meeting was conveyed after allegations that Crockett and Hagenow made disparaging comments and jokes about Ron Atwater based on his race. Atwater is the only black member of the BOE.

Crockett, Hagenow and Atwater are all Republicans.

Crockett and Hagenow did not attend Tuesday's meeting either. After discussing the matter in a private executive session for more than an hour on Tuesday, the school board convened and approved a motion to hold a hearing on remarks that Crockett is alleged to have made on three superset occasions. No action was taken against Hagenow, and no further explanation was provided.
