Cheney Tech Earns Honors in Connecticut Light & Power's 'Live Green – Win Green' Contest

The contest encouraged students to find ways to make their schools more environmentally friendly.

was recently named a runner-up in the 2011-12 CL&P Live Green – Win Green contest, which encourages high school students to consider projects to make their schools more environmentally friendly. Contestants submitted a video and essay outlining plans to implement “green” projects at their school and Cheney Tech's entry was awarded a trophy and a check for $5,000.

Celebrating the achievement are (front row, left to right) CL&P Vice President - Customer Operations Ken Bowes, Assistant Principal Patricia Feeney, students Philip Laprise, Alex Carroll, Aaron Martinez, Rashawn Lee and faculty member Ryan Wark.  Back row, left to right, are students Bailey Norman, Brendan Hughes, William Eastham and faculty member Ken Simon. 

Other contest runners-up were A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford and Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury.  The grand prize winner was Rockville High School in Vernon.
