Upscale Restaurant and Wine Bar Planned for Mall Area

Plans for the new restaurant include indoor seating for 291, an outdoor patio that can accommodate another 101, and a spacious bar and wine tasting area.

Another noticeable vacancy could soon be filled in the area around the , as the town's Planning and Zoning Commission is reviewing an application for an upscale restaurant and wine bar to move into the site of the former Hops restaurant at 110 Buckland Hills Dr.

The new restaurant, known as the Market Grill, would be able to accommodate 291 patrons indoors, and would include a 72-seat bar and a separate wine tasting area. Plans also call for a 54 foot by 24.5 foot patio area that could accommodate 101 patrons with its own separate bar. A copy of the plans have been attached to this article as a PDF. 

The applicant is Helmar Wolf, president of the Mill Restaurant Group, which also owns the Mill on the River Restaurant in South Windsor. Wolf did not immediately return a call for comment Friday afternoon.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will review the application as part of its Monday, June 18 meeting at 7 p.m. in the Lincoln Center Hearing Room, 494 Main St.
