Shelter to Open at Manchester Senior Center

Parking ban in effect until noon Sunday.

Manchester Senior Center will open as a shelter at 8 p.m. Saturday, the town has announced. The center, at 549 East Middle Turnpike, will offer a place to stay for those without power or those needing shelter from the snowstorm.

Town officials said that more than 30 percent of CL&P customers are without power after heavy tree and power line damage. Crews are not expected to begin restoring power until Sunday morning.

Residents are urged not to travel unless absolutely necessary because trees and power lines are blocking roadways. A parking ban is in effect until noon on Sunday.
