New Restaurant Approved for Former Hops Location

The Market Grill is planned as an upscale restaurant and wine bar with a large patio area and outdoor fire pit.

The town's Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved an application that would bring a new upscale restaurant and wine bar to the site of the former Hops Restaurant at 110 Buckland Hills Dr. Monday night. 

Plans for the new restaurant, known as the , include seating for 291 patrons indoors, a 72-seat bar and a separate wine tasting section, and a spacious outdoor patio area that can fit another 101 patrons with its own separate bar and fire pit. The applicant was Helmar Wolf, president of the Mill Restaurant Group, which also owns the Mill on the River Restaurant in South Windsor, who could not be reached for comment Tuesday. There is no timetable on the opening of the Market Grill at this point.
