Lawsuit Filed Against Florida Resort Where Manchester Woman Died Parasailing

Kathleen Miskell died in 2012 after falling to her death while parasailing with her husband.

The family of Manchester native Kathleen Miskell, who died in 2012 after falling to her death while parasailing, is suing a Pompano Beach resort and a boating company where the incident happened.

The Hartford Courant reported Thursday that Miskell's family has filed a neglience claim against Sands Harbor resort and others for failing to have Miskell equipped with a harness that was safe and in working condition.

Miskell, 28, a Manchester High School graduate who last lived in Wethersfield, was at the resort with her husband Stephen. The pair were parasailing in tandem on Aug. 15, 2012 when the incident happened, and Stephen watched helplessly as his wife fell some 200 feet to her death, The Daily Mail reported.

The lawsuit also seeks compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $15,000, the Courant reported.
