"5 Things You Need to Know About..." Rivalries, Politics and Budget Workshops

The Manchester High School girls basketball team will square off against rival Glastonbury for the fourth time on Thursday, while the Board of Directors will hold the first of many budget workshops.

1. The Manchester High School girls basketball team has only lost two games all season, and they've both come against . Thursday evening in the MHS gym, the two rivals will square off for the fourth time this season in the semifinals of the CIAC Class LL tournament.

2. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy stopped by Manchester Community College Wednesday for a quick tour and to talk to students in a communications and politic science class about his proposed state budget, which includes a plan to reorganization the state's community college and regional university systems. 3. The Board of Directors will hold the first of many budget workshops Thursday to review General Manager Scott Shanley's for the 2011-12 fiscal year. The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Center Hearing Room, 494 Main St., and will deal exclusively with the Human Services and Recreation department's budgets. 

4. While the Arts Commission will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Law Library of Town Hall, 41 Center St.
