Two-Time Sex Offender from Manchester Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charge

Peter L. Schuett faces at least 15 years in prison for his third sex-related incident in just over a decade.

For the third time since 2000, Manchester resident Peter Lynn Schuett will serve prison time for child porn crimes.

Schuett pleaded guilty on Monday in a New Haven federal courthouse to one count of receiving and distributing child pornography stemming from a federal investigation that resulted in the discovery of hundreds of images and videos on his computer and mobile phone.

Manchester police and U.S. Homeland Security investigators executed a search warrant on Schuett's home in February in which officials uncovered computer files depicting children under the age of 12 engaging in sexually explicit conduct, "as well as material depicting sadistic and masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence."

"The investigation revealed that Schuett also engaged in sadistic and masochistic chats with other individuals that advocated graphic violence against children," the Justice Department said.

Schuett, 54, faces at least 15 years in prison and as many as 40 years, a penalty which is enhanced because of his criminal past.

Officials said he was convicted in Texas 13 years ago for possession of child pornography, and in Connecticut in 2008 for importing child pornography and promotion of a minor in an obscene performance.

Schuett is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 1.
