Three Manchester Firefighters to Graduate From the Connecticut Fire Academy

The graduation ceremony for Recruit Class #48 will be held tomorrow, Dec. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden.

Forty-six firefighters, representing 24 fire departments throughout the state, will graduate from the Connecticut Fire Academy tomorrow as Recruit Class #48 tomorrow, including three who will work out of the Manchester Fire Department Eighth Utilities District. 

Joseph W. Fawley, Christopher G. Roy, and Martin Weimann will graduate as members of the Manchester Fire, Rescue, EMS Department tomorrow in a 1:30 p.m. ceremony at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden, 285 Preston Ave. Roy is a Manchester resident, Weimann is from Vernon, and Fawley is from New Fairfield. 

The 46 recruits have been undergoing an intensive 14-week residential based daily training program at the fire academy campus since Sept. 12. The training focuses on developing knowledge, skills and abilities needed for entry level firefighters.

The recruits represent fire departments in Allingtown, Cromwell, East Farmington, East Hartford, East Haven, East Putnam, Fairfield, Hamden, Killingworth, Lebanon, Litchfield, Manchester, Milford, North Branford, North Haven, Norwalk, Old Saybrook, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Stratford, Vernon, West Shore, Westport and Willimantic. 

The Connecticut Fire Academy is the teaching arm of the Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control, a Division of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection. Its mission is to serve as the primary source of education and training for Connecticut firefighters.
