Police Seize 28 Pounds of Marijuana in Manchester, Charge Hartford Man With Possession

A tip received by the East Central Narcotics Task Force lead to the discovery of a package of marijuana delivered to an Edgerton Street residence.

The following information was provided by Manchester Police Sgt. Anthony Palombizio with the East Central Narcotics Task Force:

On Friday, members of the East Central Narcotics Task Force received information that a package filled with marijuana was to be delivered to 37 Edgerton St. in Manchester.

Task force members set up surveillance, and detained Fernando Gayle when he accepted the package for delivery at 37 Edgerton St., according to police.

Task force members also located another package filled with 14 pounds of marijuana located inside of the Lexus that Gayle was operating, according to police. Task force members seized approximately 28 pounds of marijuana between the two packages seized.

Gayle, 28, of 22 Harrison St., Hartford, was arrested and charged with possession of more than 4 oz of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.

Gayle is being held on a $150,000 surety bond, according to police. 

The East Central Narcotics Task Force, in cooperation with other municipal, and federal law enforcement agencies, is interested in stopping illegal narcotics sales and use in the Manchester, South Windsor, Vernon, and Glastonbury communities.
