Police Release Names of Center Street Accident Victims

A Manchester man and a Glastonbury woman were seriously injured when they were struck by a car while crossing Center Street Tuesday evening.

The Manchester Police Department released the names of the two victims that were evening when a car collided with two pedestrians in the roadway at the intersection near Rite Aid. 

According to police, Candice Ellison, 23, of Glastonbury, and Christopher Bower, 22, of Manchester, were crossing Center Street at approximately 5:09 p.m. Tuesday evening toward the parking lot of the  at pharmacy at 335 Center St. when a 2003 Volkswagon GTI driven by Benjamin Chamberlin, 20, of Manchester collided with them. 

Police said both Ellison and Bower sustained "serious non-life threatening injuries" and were transferred by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, where they remained Wednesday. Chamberlin was not injured in the collision.

Police have not determined the cause of the accident and are still investigating. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is encouraged to call Ofc. Steven Koss at 860-645-5560.
