South Windsor Police are investigating an incident at a local fitness club at which lockers were broken into and cash and other items were taken on Wednesday evening.

The locks were cut, and items were removed, from seven lockers at LA Fitness in South Windsor, according to police spokesman Sgt. Scott Custer.

LA Fitness Operations Manager Mike Nelson confirmed during a telephone interview Thursday that the incident had taken place.

Nelson said that, while there had been isolated incidents in the past in which items had been taken from a car or locker, there hadn’t been anything like what took place Wednesday.

“That’s a lot,” said Nelson, who added that he and staff at LA Fitness were working with police to identify a suspect.

Neither Custer nor Nelson provided information as to what items were taken from the lockers.

Anyone with information is invited to call the South Windsor Police Department at 860-644-2551.
