North Carolina Man Goes on Drunken Tirade at Vernon Hotel

He spent the night in the lockup while awaiting a court appearance, police said.

A North Carolina man was taken into custody after a drunken tirade on Sunday at the hotel on Hartford Turnpike in Vernon that included brawling with peacemakers and spitting inside a police car, according to an arrest report.

Travis Fox, 24, who lives at 143 Wendover Rd. in Asheville, N.C., is due in court today on second-degree breach of peace and criminal mischief charges, police said.

He was being held on a $4,500 bond, police said.

At 2:39 a.m. on Sunday, a front desk clerk at the hotel called police after getting into an argument with Fox, according to an arrest report. When police arrived, Fox was acting drunk and disorderly in the parking lot, according to an arrest report.

The owner of the hotel told police he just wanted Fox off the property on Hartford Turnpike and friends tried to take him away, but in the process, Fox began fighting with his friends, police said.

Police said they then arrested Fox for breach of peace.

While inside the cruiser, still in the parking lot, he began spitting blood in the rear seat and the criminal mischief charge was added, police said.

Fox was placed in a spit mask and transported to police headquarters, police said.
