Memorial Held Wednesday for Fallen Manchester Student

La'andrew Evans-Swain was a student at both Manchester High School and Manchester Regional Academy.

A gathering will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2013, to commemorate La’andrew Evans-Swain, the former Manchester High School and Manchester Regional Academy student who was killed in a car crash in East Hartford on Sunday.

The gathering is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Manchester Regional Academy, located at 665 Wetherell St.

Evans-Swain, 16, was riding in a green BMW when it rolled over on Forest Street in East Hartford early Sunday morning, according to police and media reports. Evans-Swain and his brother, Robert Swain, were killed in the crash. There were two other young passengers in the vehicle, according to police and media reports, and both were also taken to the hospital. The condition of the two other occupants of the vehicle have not been released.

Manchester Regional Academy Principal Bruce Thorndike recalled Evans-Swain as "kind-hearted" and a "gentle soul" to the Hartford Courant in an article published Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Wednesday's gathering is "open to all Manchester Regional Academy and Manchester High School students who knew La’andrew and who wish to come together to honor his memory and find support in his school community," according to the MHS Redline website
