Manchester Teacher Charged in Scrap Metal Theft

Natalie Dix was arrested after police said she conspired in the theft from the town of Union.

A teacher at Bennet Academy in Manchester is facing a conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny charge after police said she partook in the theft of scrap metal from a municipal property in the town of Union.

The Hartford Courant reported that Natalie Dix, 41, was arrested after police executed a search warrant at her home on Saturday. She is facing other charges in relation to the Aug. 7 theft from a property off of Old Browns Road in Union, and she posted a $1,500 bond after she was taken into custody, the Courant reported.

Police said a trooper discovered Dix parked in a car at the property waiting for a man described as her partner, who was intending to steal the metal, the Courant reported.

Online court records show that Dix has other charges pending against her in Enfield and Rockville, including motor vehicle charges, misdemeanor marijuana possession and failures to appear.

School officials are reportedly holding a meeting with her and the teacher's union about the allegations.
