Manchester Police: Unclear Sidewalks Will Result in a Fine

Uncleared sidewalks will result in a $92 fine each day, according to police.

The following is a press release from the Manchester Police Department released Friday, Feb. 15 2013:

Town Ordinance § 279-19 requires property owners with an abutting public sidewalk to remove snow and ice within 24 hours of the conclusion of the snow fall. The recent snow accumulation was so large that removal is challenging.

Residents are reminded that Manchester public schools reopened on Tuesday February 13th, and all property owners with sidewalks are required to clear the walks. The Manchester Police will be enforcing the ordinance at this time. Please be aware that the snow removal ordinance provides for a $92 fine with each 24 hour period constituting a separate offence.
