Manchester Police arrested a 27-year old Hartford man recently and charged him in an armed robbery that occurred last week at the Xtra Mart convenience store on Oakland Street.
The robbery occurred early in the morning of Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, when a man pulled a gun on the clerk and made off with money and cigarettes. Manchester police arrested Andrew McCalla, 27, of 270 Palm St., Hartford, on Saturday, Sept. 14, as a suspect in the robbery and charged him with first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon, criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, sixth-degree larceny and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Manchester Police Cpt. Christopher Davis said McCalla was identified as a suspect based on photos in the department's "in-house" system and his description. Davis said, at one point, McCalla had an address at 360 Oakland St.
McCalla is being held on a $350,000 bond at the Hartford Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in court on the charges on Oct. 17, 2013.
