Manchester Men Arrested on Narcotics Charges at Glastonbury 7-Eleven

A regional narcotics task force say the men were in possession of 30 Xanax pills.

Two Manchester men were arrested in the parking lot of a Glastonbury 7-Eleven Monday after officers with a regional narcotics task force say they attempted to sell prescription pills.

Officers with the East Central Narcotics Task Force set up surveillance near the parking lot of the Glastonbury 7-Eleven, 3041 Main St., after developing two arrest warrants for Robert Menard, 58, of 23 Lilac St., Manchester.

The warrants charged Menard with possession and sale of a controlled substance and stemmed from an investigation into narcotics sales in and around Glastonbury, according to police.

During Monday’s arrest, police say Menard was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of 30 Xanax pills packaged for sale.

Menard was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of controlled substance with intent to sell, and was held in lieu of $230,000 total bond.

Police also took Menard’s passenger under arrest.

Barry Silva, 60, of 23 Lilac St., Manchester, was also arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.  Silva was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for second-degree failure to appear.  Silva was released on $5,000 non-surety bond.
