Manchester Man Facing Rape Charges

According to police and court documents, Charles K. Eason confessed to raping an underaged victim in Charter Oak Park in June.

Charles K. Eason, a 20-year old Manchester man, is facing a multitude of charges stemming from an alleged forcible sexual assault of a 15-year old victim in Charter Oak Park in June, according to information provided by the Manchester Police Department and the Connecticut Judicial Branch.

According to the warrants on file at Manchester Superior Court for Eason’s arrest, Eason told police he was “hanging out” at the park with a group of friends around 6 p.m. on June 10, 2011, drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. After initially telling police in a sworn statement that he was never alone with the 15-year old victim, Eason admitted in a second statement that he and the victim were left alone by the group when they began to kiss, and that he held her down and forcibly raped her.

Eason, who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall, told police that he “blacked out” during the evening of June 10 and could not remember his actions, although he did note that the victim “has nothing against me…so she wouldn’t lie.” Eason described the victim as "tiny."

Further police interviews with other members of the group revealed that Eason confessed to one of them the next morning that he had done “something really bad” to the victim the night before, although the friend told police he did not press Eason for details.

Eason was arrested for the charges on Aug. 8, when an officer spotted him walking through Center Park. According to the arrest warrant, the officer, Robert Stanford, asked to speak with Eason, who then took off running. Eason ran through a series of suburban streets and backyards, according to the warrant, and Stanford eventually had to taze Eason to subdue him.

He is being held on a $290,000 bond at the Hartford correction facility and is next scheduled to appear in court on the charges on Sept. 13, 2011.
