South Windsor police were dispatched to a robbery at the Nitey Nite Motel on John Fitch Boulevard on Friday, April 25.

A woman who lives at the motel reported that an acquaintance of hers had stopped by and asked to borrow a small sum of money, according to South Windsor police.

The following information was provided in a press release from South Windsor Police.

When the woman went to retrieve the cash, police said the man allegedly shoved her out of the way, grabbed a large sum of money from her and ran out to his work truck.

The woman pursued him on foot as he drove off in his delivery truck. Officers notified surrounding towns and a short time later, East Windsor Police stopped the delivery truck and detained the driver.

Officers found the suspect was still in possession of the cash and arrested him. Ryan Cottrill, 30, of 14 Bilyeu Road, Manchester, was charged with robbery in the third degree, larceny in the third degree and breach of peace.

Cottrill was held on $50,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear later that day at Manchester Superior Court.
