Man Tasered in Drug Bust, Charged with Possession of Narcotics

Police reportedly tasered Joshua Reese after he allegedly reached for a knife hidden in his vehicle. He was charged with possession of cocaine and heroin, and the intent to sell cocaine.

A Manchester man was charged with possession of heroin, cocaine and the intent to sell after regional narcotics agents seized drugs and a knife from his vehicle in Glastonbury.

According to police, agents received a tip that the man, identified as 25-year-old Joshua Reese, would be arriving at a Glastonbury 7 Eleven with the drugs inside his silver Acura.

Once Reese arrived on the scene, officers stopped his vehicle and tried to detain him, police said.

Reese, police added, resisted the officers' attempts to detain him and allegedly reached for a knife in the vehicle's center console.

Officers tasered him, took him into custody, and confiscated nearly one ounce of cocaine, eight bags of heroin, an undisclosed amount of marijuana, and the knife from his vehicle, according to police.

Officers also detained the passenger in Reese's vehicle, whose identity is not being released due to the existence of a family protection order that is currently in place between Reese and his passenger, police said.

Narcotics agents said they also searched Reese's Manchester residence, a Hartford Turnpike Motel 6, and seized and undisclosed amount of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, scales and packaging from his room at the motel.

According to police, Reese has "an extensive criminal history in Connecticut, and has beenarrested by the East Central Task Force in the past for sale of narcotics."

Reese was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, intent to sell cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, weapons in a motor vehicle and violation of a protection order. He was held on a $260,000 surety bond.

The unidentified passenger was charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, intent to sell cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and was held on a $35,000 surety pond.
