Habitual Offender Arrested Again in Local Marijuana Growing Operation

A 46-year old Manchester man well known to police by now was arrested again Tuesday night after police say they discovered a marijuana growing operation at his residence - the same offense he was last arrested for in November of 2012.

Manchester Police executed a search warrant at Paul Bato's 536 Birch Mountain Road residence Tuesday and found 12 marijuana plants, 29 marijuana seedling plants, assorted marijuana growing equipment, 1.5 ounces of harvested marijuana, 16 bags of heroin, approximately two grams of cocaine, scales  and other drug paraphernalia.

Bato, 46, was charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug factory, possession of heroin and possession of cocaine. He was held on a $350,000 surety bond.

Bato was last arrested on similar charges in November of 2012 after a bizarre incident at his home on Thanksgiving night attracted police attention. He is also awaiting trial on charges of manslaughter and first-degree harassment.
