Ellington-Somers Police Blotter: Nov. 9-Nov. 15

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police, are accurate as of Nov. 16, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Nov. 9

A 23-year-old Somers man was traveling eastbound on Sadds Mill Road at Reeves Road in Ellington when, while negotiating a curve in the roadway, he entered into an uncontrolled skid. The vehicle left the roadway off the right shoulder of the eastbound travel lane and entered onto a residential property where the vehicle collided with a mailbox post with its front end and a large boulder in the driver's door area prior to coming to a final rest. The man stated that he was wearing a safety belt at the time of the collision and reported not to have sustained an injury as a result of the collision. He was issued a complaint ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.

Nov. 10

James V. Erdmann, 52, of 297 Ivy Dr. in Bristol, was observed operating in an erratic manner on Route 190 in Somers. The vehicle also had no rear registration light working. The vehicle was stopped and Erdmann was found to be under the influence. He was administered field sobriety tests that he failed and was subsequently arrested. Erdmann was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to have lights lit and devices illuminated.

Nov. 11

William Hubbard, 43, of 12 Lake St. in Ellington, was charged after troopers responded to his home to investigate an altercation between a father and son. Upon investigation of this incident, Hubbard was arrested and subsequently charged with risk of injury to a child, disorderly conduct, and third-degree assault. He was held on $25,000 cash bond pending his appearance at Rockville Superior court on Nov. 13. 

Nov. 14

Clifton Powell, 43, was transported from Northern Correctional Institution to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. He was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant for threatening and was processed and held on a $25,000 bond set by the court. Powell was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court.

Darnell Walker, 29, of 50B Austin St. in New Britain, was transported from Northern Correctional Institution to Rockville Superior Court so that an active arrest warrant could be served. He was placed under arrest on an active arrest warrant issued by the court for assault on a public safety officer. Walker was processed and held on a $100,000 bond set by the court. He was then turned back over to the state marshals to be presented to the court.
