An Ellington man trying to play an April Fool's joke on his girlfriend Monday ended up getting he and his co-workers escorted out at gunpoint by police.

Mark Foreman's April Fool's joke on his girlfriend didn't go as planned Monday. In fact, it ended up getting Foreman arrested, and the Friendly's restaurant he works at on Buckland Hills Drive surrounded by police while he and co-workers were escorted out at gunpoint.

According to police, Foreman, 20, sent a text message to his girlfriend, who works at the nearby Buffalo Wild Wings, that the Friendly's he worked at was being robbed. His girlfriend called 911.

Police responded around 11:30 p.m. Monday night, surrounded the restaurant, and escorted Foreman and his co-workers out at gunpoint.

Foreman confessed to the prank and was charged with breach of peace and filing a false report. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on the charges April 11, 2013.
