Early Morning Fire at Manchester Inn Sends Two to Hospital

A fire was reported early Thursday morning at the Manchester Inn on East Center Street.

A fire that broke out at the Manchester Inn motor lodge on East Center Street sent two victims to the hospital early Thursday morning, according to Fire Chief Robert Bycholski.

In a press release, Bycholski said the fire was reported at approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday inside room 114 of the Manchester Inn at 100 East Center St. The motor lodge-style inn contains 42 guest rooms, but only 38 rooms were occupied Thursday morning, according to Bycholski.

Bycholski said firefighters arrived to find "heavy fire" inside Room 114, but that the fire was extinguished within eight minutes of firefighters' arrival. The lone occupant of Room 114, an adult male, suffered burns to his arms and hands, while the lone occupant of the room directly above, also an adult male, suffered smoke inhalation. Both were transported to Manchester Memorial Hospital.
