A man on the state sex offender registry surrendered to Vernon police on Tuesday morning to answer a charge that he failed to comply with the conditions of his 10-year listing, a VPD spokesman said.

John Clifford, 35, surrendered to Vernon police at 7:05 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a log entry. The warrant issued for his arrest is a referral from the State Police Sex Offender Unit, the VPD spokesman said.

Police said Clifford's last known address before failing to comply was 19 River St. in Vernon. The arrest log has him now living at 35 Pleasant St. in Manchester.
He was held on a $125,000 bond on Tuesday morning while awaiting a court appearance, police said.

A VPD spokesman said he was convicted in 2010 of public indecency and second-degree possession of child pornography. He is accused of not reporting a current address.
