East Catholic High School Student Recognized for Exemplary Community Service

East Catholic High School Senior Julia Loomer has received the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award acknowledging her for her exemplary volunteer service.  Julia has done extensive volunteer work with MARC, an

agency devoted to helping the developmentally disabled.  Julia also volunteers with the non-profit organization Simply Smiles which helps improve the lives of impoverished children and families in Mexico.  Julia is traveling to Mexico this month to assist with the building of a middle school.  She will also help distribute medical and food supplies to one of the poorest regions of that country.

This award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barak Obama.
