Obituary: Ralph J. Woodhouse, 88, of North Granby

Ralph J. Woodhouse was born in Manchester and a former resident of Windsor Locks. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Ralph J. Woodhouse, 88, of North Granby, loving husband of the late Muriel (Linneken) Woodhouse passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital.

Ralph was born September 25, 1925, in Manchester, the son of the late Charles J. and Loretta (Gregory) Woodhouse. Ralph was a resident of Windsor Locks for 35 years prior to moving to North Granby in 1991.

He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant and fought in the Black Forest in Germany as a machine gunner. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Citations for Valor.

Ralph retired from IBEW Local 35 in Hartford in 1984. Ralph is survived by two sons, Bruce Woodhouse and his wife, Jeanne of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Craig Woodhouse and his wife, Paula of North Granby; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Muriel, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Charles and James Woodhouse and a sister, Madeline Norkaitis.

Graveside services with military honors for Ralph will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Cemetery on Spring Street in Windsor Locks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation National Headquarters, 6520 North Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2130. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Windsor Locks Funeral Home.
