Longtime Manchester Attorney, Political Activist, Dies at 83

Sanford Plepler was active in Democratic politics and a delegate during the Eugene McCarthy bid for the presidency in 1968.

Sanford "Sandy" Pleplar, a former attorney, Army veteran and longtime active Democrat passed, away this weekend at the age of 83.

Ted Cummings, the former Manchester Democratic Town Committee Leader, told The Journal Inquirer Pleplar was remembered as a "leader" of a "spirited group" of Democrats who were proud to identify themselves as liberals and progressives.

According to his obituary, Pleplar practiced law for over 50 years in the area and was active in politics throughout most of his life. He was a delegate in the 1968 Democratic caucus for candidate Eugene McCarthy.
