Pet Fur Nightmare

Tips and tricks to keep your home fur-free this holiday season.

By Maid Brigade of Northern CT

In a pinch to get the house clean before company arrives...and no time to call Maid Brigade of Northern CT?

We've got some quick tips to get the seemingly impossible pet hair OUT of your home!

-Use a damp mop on fabric - that's right, FABRIC!  Run a slightly damp (NEW) mop across your fabric furniture.  It'll blow your mind and take the pet hair right off!  You can then pull it off the mop with your hands.

-Try a lint roller.  You already use it to rid your clothes of pet hair...now try putting them on your HAND and watch how much hair you'll pick up off your couches.

-Rubber glovie, you're the one!  Watch how pet hair sticks right to the gloves and pulls off furniture.

-Before you vacuum, mix some liquid fabric softener with water and spray it on your carpet.  Let it sit for about an hour - it does an amazing job of loosening the hair that's stuck in the carpets.

-The best way to keep the pet fur from taking over your house...is a little preventative maintenance.  Brushing your dog or cat weekly helps remove the fur that will otherwise fall off.  And getting your dog's hair cut in the spring and fall helps - these are the seasons they tend to shed the most.  While you're at it...make sure they have a diet with plenty of protein, vitamins and Omega-Fatty Acids.  Not only will it help keep them at a healthy weight, but it will also minimize shedding.  Talk to your vet for the best and healthiest diet plan for them!
