Meet Lutz Volunteer Kayla Zamor

Meet Lutz Volunteer Kayla Zamor

Kayla Zamor has been volunteering with the Lutz Children’s Museum since January of 2011, and from the start she has contributed fantastically.  Just having completed her sophomore year at Manchester High School, Kayla thought volunteering for the Lutz would be a great opportunity to have under her belt as she applies for college.  We at the Lutz are so glad that she decided to spend her time here after hearing much positive feedback from current volunteers.

Kayla has worked hard on several different projects during her time here. She is exceptionally good at preparing crafts for the many classes and birthday parties that take place during the year.  She sometimes sits in on classes as well, helping the educators with whatever they might need.  She has also begun working at some of our special events like art galleries, and has recently signed on to help out with our camp this summer.

When not at the museum, Kayla enjoys watching movies and hanging out with friends, as most of her peers do.  She shows great passion for biology class in school and likes that it is ever changing, allowing there to always be something new to learn.  She would someday like to become a nurse, adding to her interest of the subject.  Recently, she was chosen to be “student of the month” by one of her teachers for mentoring a fellow student with autism.  They sit together in class and at lunch, helping him to feel more comfortable.

“The staff is very nice, and this volunteer position has been a great way to meet new people”, Kayla explains about her time at the Lutz.  She has really enjoyed volunteering and would encourage anyone interested in becoming a volunteer that it is a great place to work.

The museum always has volunteer positions available for high school and college students alike looking to gain experience. Opportunities are available in the museum's education, animal care, and collections departments. Contact Joanna Snyder at (860) 643-0949 x.13 or at jsnyder@lutzmuseum.org for more information.
