Several non-profit agencies are planning a workshop for high school and college aged students who volunteer in the community.  The event will be held at the Lutz Children’s Museum on Thursday 3/15 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Many students are required to perform volunteer service for course credit; others choose to volunteer for personal fulfillment or to build work experience. Their contribution is invaluable to community organizations which often operate with small budgets and have few paid staff members.

  • What benefits do teens receive from their volunteer experience?
  • What should a teen volunteer know about an agency before they choose to volunteer their time?
  • How should agencies recognize and reward teen volunteers?

Everyone is invited to attend including parents, educators, employers, volunteers from any organization, and interested members of the public. Residents of surrounding communities are particularly welcome.

Co-sponsors of the event include: Manchester Youth Commission, Manchester Youth Services Bureau, Manchester Area Conference of Churches, Manchester High School and Manchester Community College.
