Who's in the Mood?

This holiday season, the Christmas mood wasn't easy to come by!

As the days tick down to Dec. 25, or for whatever holiday you celebrate, I just wasn't getting in the mood!

October's horrific snowstorm shook not only the trees, but the very soul of many people who were without power and provision (and warmth) for up to 10 days, and now our checkbooks are getting lighter paying for tree removal, new food, etc. The beautiful, albeit heavy, snow that came down that day, left just as quickly.

So . . . I got out of the mood quickly!

But, this weekend at , and in various places around Manchester, we had a SHARE the holidays, particially sponsored by the South Manchester History Arts Recreation and Education collaborative.  A lovely antique trolley road around a route in our part of town and brought visitors to various sites to enjoy holiday treats, activities, exhibitions, movies, and a chance to talk to Santa and Mrs. Claus!

At the Hall, we had kids cartoon holiday movies, with popcorn and hot chocolate, and Santa and Merry Claus made their entrance mid-afternoon.  We didn't have a very good turnout, which was disappointing, but the volunteers who wore their red sweaters, elf hats, silly socks and such had a ball!

We took pictures with Santa, chatted with him and Merry for awhile and became kids agan for a little bit!  It was wonderful, and they were gracious to chat with us "big kids" even after the little ones had gone.

The next day, the Hall became a buzz with 100 people who paid to attend "A Cup of Christmas Tea." Based on the popular holiday book, a beautiful tea was presented by Marilyn Neumayer and Diane AmEnde, both wonderful cooks and hostesses (who have done this professionally), and with Christmas music playing and a reading of the book, it was a lovely afternoon.  And the volunteers who cooked, set up, then cleaned up were the angels on the top of the tree for sure!

So . . . I'm in the mood.  Yea, I'd like it to be about 10 degrees colder, but it will come, and I'm ready to Deck the Halls!

I hope you're in the mood, and have a wonderful holiday season!
