Twas the Night Before New Year...

A do-over is yours for the asking in this world of chaos!

I thought about all the standard catch-phrases and words of wisdom I could pass along via this blog, and figured you'd be knee-deep in idioms and thoughtful messages by now.

So, here it is. My final thought for 2011. If you didn't get it done in 2011, you have a do-over. If you didn't lose weight, clean out your closets, write thank you notes, be a better friend/parent/child/lover/employee/employer, start exercising regularly, watch less television and read more, and that long list of "I should haves...", then 2012 awaits!

Our lives aren't always going to allow us to get it right. Sometimes there just aren't enough days in the week and other things get jammed in there unexpectedly and that's OK. It is what life is all about. There is indeed more chaos than order.

And, I'm not getting into world chaos here – its pretty obvious that wars, famine, terrorism, financial balance, financial imbalance, elections and politicians in general, reality TV, and so much more throws world chaos into our faces every day. Let's just stick to our own little space.

I've discovered that chaos is often where the fun comes from, the joys are provided, where friends are made, where family surprises you and what makes our lives richer and fuller. How many times has something seemed negatively chaotic to you, and out of it comes words of solace, comfort, acts of kindness and new opportunities?

There are those who believe that the world began in a cosmos of chaos, and from the combination of gasses, so came the planets and life as we know it. Others believe in a creator whose imagination and knowledge slowly formed and molded our being, our lust for thought and our own creation of generations.

However we got here, whatever our quest, our destiny, there isn't a book. All there is is time, and sometimes we choose how to control it and sometimes we don't.

So, when midnight strikes tonight and brings an end to 2011, and a start to 2012, remind yourself that you get another do-over, another chance, another opportunity to be the best bit of chaos that you can be.

Ask my children, siblings, friends and colleagues, they'll agree that I do the best I can with my own little corner of chaos.

Happy Do-Over to you!
