Heritage Day is a Fun and Historic Family Activity

Pride in Manchester Week offers something for everyone! Something old, something new, something artsy, something musical!

Heritage Day will be held at on Saturday, June 9. This event concludes a week of activities called Pride in Manchester Week!  The 10:30 a.m. gathering will feature a proclamation from Mayor Leo Diana, the posting of the colors by the Manchester Police Department, honoring two Hometown Heroes (which is a secret) and special guest speaker, Senator Mary Ann Handley.

As part of the day, tours will be conducted in all of the historic buildings along
Hartford Road and Pine Street, including the Fire Museum, activities will take place at the Lutz Children’s Museum, downtown Manchester, including the Mary Cheney Library and the Fiddle Fest will take place in Center Memorial Park.  A free shuttle service will take people to all of these locations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to participate in a historic treasure hunt that will make you look at places and buildings you see every day in a very different way. Treasure Hunt sheets will be located at many sites including Cheney Hall. Completed sheets should be turned in at Cheney Hall by 3 p.m. and a winner will be selected to receive a basket of representative items from all of the
participating historic, educational, arts and recreational sites, sponsored by
S.H.A.R.E.
